Workshop: Collaborative Storytelling

Code Art Together

with Shaghayegh Cyrous

CODAME ART+TECH Workshops

In this workshop you'll experience collective creative thinking! We will explore storytelling using our dreams and five senses as tools for collaborative expression at any distance. We will then use our new skills to create 1 minute short experimental videos. We will share our creations and can look forward to visiting the Codame NewArt.city when pieces from the workshop have been incorporated.

The workshop covers various communication methods including interpersonal communication, collective thinking, collaboration via telecommunication, and advanced communication that enhances thought with feeling. These skills will help you clearly transmit you're intent, making them applicable across all disciplines and ladders. They're useful offline, but even more useful online as we experience a global shift to work-from-home as the new norm.

Her work has dealt with cross-cultural communication and translation, addressing predicaments of estrangement and distance caused by political and cultural power dynamics. She incorporates interactive time-based strategies such as socially engaged art, participatory performances, and digital technologies such as live video chats and video installations to explore the compression of time and space resulting from digital technologies, and how digital media plays this critical role in the lives of exiles and immigrants and currently the global physical distancing due to the COVID-19 situation.

Her other professional experiences include; Programming and Communication Associate at Aggregate Space Gallery in Oakland, researcher and production assistant of Jim Campbell for the Day For Night project at Salesforce Tower, Board Member of Clarion Alley Mural Project, Civic & Community Engagement Coordinator, at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.
