“Polydance” by Anastasiia Vedernikova and Joe Pea at 3D Web Fest
On 30 June 2017, experience the most innovative, experimental and game-based projects from top thought leaders, influencers and creators at the 3D Web Fest. Artists working with WebGL, WebAudio, Javascript, CSS, HTML5, Three.js, and VR will showcase their creations in a mind-blowing festival of bleeding-edge tech. Now in its third year, over 15 artists will explore the theme of “connection” in a film festival setting.
The third annual 3D Web Fest is a fundraiser benefiting non-profit CODAME ART+TECH whose mission is to embrace innovation through creativity, play, and collaboration between companies, artists and technologists, building immersive, engaging, out of the ordinary experiences.
“Polydance” is one of those projects!
Polydance explores the beauty of simple forms. How diverse can combinations of several simple shapes be? Dancing polygons on the screen that change in size, position, color and orientation create various patterns. The project Polydance is not just a visual performance, but an interactive activity for the audience as well. The graphics projected on the screen are influenced by big foam cubes that are passed to the audience. Movement of the cubes influences the shapes on the screen. The audience becomes a controller of the web-based visuals rendered in real time.
The idea of connection is celebrated in the Polydance project: simple shapes connect and create intricate patterns, people connect with the graphic through controllers, and all elements of the project gathered together connect into the art performance.
Anastasiia Vedernikova is passionate about design when she isn’t on the dance floor.
