Arduino Advent

The holidays are a celebration of giving, togetherness, and nostalgia. As IRL traditions move to virtual spaces this year, Season of Lights will explore new ways to celebrate in a collaborative advent calendar of circuit boards. We’ll move into the future by looking back together.

This is a call for digital artists to submit Arduino Circuit Playground sketches based on a holiday memory. Use the lights and sounds of the circuit board to interpret a personal moment from a past holiday. We’re looking for a diverse array of creators and experiences to showcase: religious and secular, festive and solitary, humorous and profound. Works may be inspired by Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Solstice, New Years, among others.

Selected sketches will be uploaded day-by-day throughout the month of December into a Github repository. Makers around the world can upload them to their circuit boards and read the memories that inspired them. Videos of their creations will be showcased at the CODAME ART+TECH Festival 2020 #JOYNT.

Submission Deadline: November 23, 2020

Requirements: To create sketches, you’ll need the free, open source Arduino Software. To test your creations, you’ll need to own an Arduino Circuit Playground and a USB A to Micro B cable, both available on Adafruit.
