Smithsonian FUTURES Exhibition
Katazome indigo-dyed salmon skin pieces shown in the Smithsonian's FUTURES exhibition. They began with a traditional Ainu robe in the National Museum of Natural History, and ask what Ainu fish skin craft might have become had Japanese indigo dyeing been blended with it rather than imposed through assimilation.
