Ikuo Yamamoto

Ikuo Yamamoto is a Tokyo-based director and AI visual artist who studied moving image at Tama Art University in Japan. His practice combines cinematic direction, experimental image-making, and generative workflows to explore memory, distortion, ritual, embodiment, and unstable forms of reality. Working across personal films, music-driven visuals, fashion-oriented projects, and speculative moving-image works, Yamamoto approaches AI as part of a broader filmmaking and image-making practice rather than as an end in itself. His work is characterized by atmospheric world-building, narrative tension, and a distinctive visual language that moves between the cinematic, the surreal, and the psychologically charged. His work has been featured in international art and creative publications including /Altered District, BIA Creatives, and creAtIva AI Art Book Vol. 09. In 2026, two works, *The Inherited Archive* and *Luck in a Sickroom with Dice*, received Official Selection recognition in the Conceptual & Fine Art category of the AI Master Award. Two works have also been nominated for OMNI: International AI Film Festival in Sydney, Australia.
