Oct. 26th at GitHub San Francisco http://codame.com/events/workshop-data-visualization Visualization is a powerful tool for describing and understanding information. You’re probably used to seeing these kinds of visuals accompanying news stories, or as part of tools that you use at work, or to keep track of personal information like your finances or health. It’s easy to focus on the massive scale of a dataset or the dramatic quality of spectacular design, but [data visualization](/orgs/codame/events/workshop-data-visualization) as a process begins much more simply by asking questions, observing, and thinking critically. That’s why, to help maintain our focus on ideas and process, we’ll be relying on simple analog tools for this workshop. We’ll use notebooks and pens for data collection, and paper and markers for presentation. Analog tools have the benefit of being flexible and expressive. Plus, no debugging. We’re going to go out into the streets around the festival and write down what we see, look for patterns, and tell a story about what we find. We’re also going to take some time to discuss the challenges that come up in collecting and visualizing our data. Saturday, Oct. 26th from 10am to 2pm as part of [CODAME](/orgs/codame) [ART+TECH Festival](/orgs/codame/events/codame-art-tech-festival-2013) 2019 『 SPACE 』 Participants introduce themselves
