Evan Johnson
**Evan Johnson** is a San Francisco–based theater maker, director, playwright, and teaching artist with over 25 years of experience in performance and community arts. Rooted in a rigorous physical theater foundation—having studied clowning, mask performance, and ensemble-devised theatre under master teachers including Bill Irwin, Giovanni Fusetti, Joan Schirle, and Ronlin Foreman—Evan specializes in visceral, highly physical storytelling. As a playwright, his original works—including *Don’t Feel*, *Pansy*, and *Barn Owl*—have been presented at national venues such as CounterPulse, The Wild Project, and Playwrights Horizons. As an educator and community collaborator, Evan has directed theater programs across the Bay Area, including the Harvey Milk Center for the Arts, Curry Senior Center, SFMOMA, and New Conservatory Theatre Center. He has also engaged in international and cross-disciplinary collaborations with companies like BANDALOOP, Deborah Slater Dance Theatre, Hope Mohr Dance, Double Edge Theatre, and Big Art Group. Evan holds a certificate in Professional Ensemble Training from Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre (2006) and he works as the Theater Programs Director at Convent & Stuart Hall, a private K-12 Catholic school in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood.
